It’s Play Off Wednesday!
Our Pitching In Isthmian Premier and South Central Play Off Semi-Finals are this evening. Here’s our preview
The four teams who sit top of our ten match Pitching In Isthmian Premier form table are competing in the Play Off Semi-Finals tonight, so expect some fireworks!
Second place Aveley, five unbeaten and with only two defeats from their last ten, host an Essex derby as fifth place Brentwood Town make the relatively short trip to Parkside, the travelling Blues also with two defeats from ten and four unbeaten. Both sides have had superb campaigns, and the Millers will be determined to achieve an immediate return to National League South after only one season away, whilst Brentwood are celebrating the best season in their history and determined that it won’t finish here.
It is difficult to predict a winner, particularly as both matches between the sides this season have ended in draws. The Millers have taken fewer home points that anyone else in the top five, but it’s hardly disastrous form given they did record only three Parkside defeats, whilst Brentwood lost more times on the road than any of the top five but still recorded twelve wins on their travels.

Elsewhere in Essex, Billericay Town play host to Chatham Town. Billericay are by far the form team in our top flight, having taken twenty eight points from the last thirty available to them; indeed their draw on Saturday ended a ten match winning run which included victories over champions Folkestone Invicta and second place Aveley. The Chats, however, are looking for a fourth successive win and have only lost two of their last ten, winning seven of them, so they certainly won’t be pushovers.
Billericay will be favourites, not just due to their form but due to the fact they’ve already defeated these opponents home and away this season, albeit narrowly on both occasions. Indeed, tonight’s hosts are five unbeaten against these opponents, winning the last three of those.

Onto Pitching In Isthmian South Central, where second place Westfield will hope to quickly put their defeat against Moneyfields on Saturday behind them, AFC Portchester their visitors. Both sides have just delivered their best ever finish, and neither will want that to end here. Field had won four in a row prior to Saturday, whilst the Royals are three without a win but perhaps slackened off when they realised that fifth place was secure.
The two meetings between the sides this season have been packed with goals- fifteen of them! At Woking Park in November they played out a four-four draw, although the hosts needed an added time own goal to take a point; whilst Field triumphed three-two at The On-Site Group Stadium in October, losing a two goal lead before finding a winner eleven minutes from time.
Pay at the gate tonight.
Hanworth Villa are the hosts for Moneyfields. Third place Villa finished the campaign only one point above their visitors, but will be confident after defeating the Moneys both home and away. The hosts have demonstrated that they have the best defence in the Division, whilst their visitors have scored more goals that anyone except champions Leatherhead.
This will be Villa’s third Play Off campaign in four Isthmian seasons. The previous two saw them fall to Final defeat, including last season when Uxbridge got the better of them at the death. They’ll be determined to make it third time lucky. The Moneys have had a magnificent second Isthmian season after ending 24-25 on a hot streak, and will travel determined to defeat the Villains for the first time.
