Josh of the Rovers

Stanway Rovers had a new number one as they took on Maldon & Tiptree in the Cup on Saturday, Josh Blunkell making a debut. 

Josh isn't new to the Pitching In Isthmian League, nor to the North Division, as we was with AFC Sudbury earlier in his career, making eleven appearances during 21-22, notably in the Yellows famous cup run, and added another five Cup and Trophy appearances during the 22-23 season- including in their win over St Albans City in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round. 

He was snapped up by EFL side Wycombe Wanderers, and was on the bench for the first team without making a debut. He spent some time on loan at Bowers & Pitsea, making six appearances during the 22-23 season, and in the summer of 2023 he moved on to join Braintree Town. He then spent some time on loan at Kettering Town before heading back our way with Felixstowe and Walton United, where he played seventeen times up to and including the Play Off Semi-Final in the second half of the 23-24 season.

Since then he has played for Aveley, St Albans City, Walton & Hersham, Needham Market, and in the summer headed back to Sudbury.
