Margate boss Jamie becomes a World Champion!

Jamie Coyle and friends win the Seniors World Cup for England

The Seniors World Cup has recently taken place in Thailand- and it brought us an Isthmian winner! There were several former Isthmian players in the England squad, and that included new Margate boss Jamie Coyle- who ended up holding the trophy after he and his team mates thumped France in the Final.

The full squad was: Gareth Barry, Lee Hendrie, Jamie Cureton, Luke Chambers, Alex Russell, David Norris, Ian Cox, Barry Hayles, Sean Davis, Luke McCormick, Jake Wright, Kevin Ellison, Greg Halford, Jamie Coyle and Aaron O'Connor.

In their two Group A games they beat Thailand 2-0 (David Norris and Aaron O’Connor) and USA 3-0  (Aaron O'Connor and Jamie Cureton (2)), before moving on to the Semi Finals and a 5-2 win against Australia (Aaron O’Connor (2), Jamie Coyle, Barry Hayles, and Jamie Cureton) which saw them through to the Final. Barry Hayles, Jamie Cureton, Aaron O’Connor and Karl Duguid scored as the match was won four-nil and the French were vanquished.

Many congratulations go out to Jamie and all of his teammates- who won the tournement (which is played annually) for the NINTH time, with Jamie now involved- so far as we understand it- in four of those victories.

(Thanks to Neil Pilcher for bringing this to our attention).
