Mitchell out, Moore returns for the Scholars

Potters Bar Town have announced a return as manager for Sammy Moore, as Max Mitchell departs

Potters Bar Town have announced the reappointment of Sammy Moore as their manager. Sammy replaces Max Mitchell, who departed on Monday.

Max took over at the Scholars, at first temporarily, in March 2023. He departs with his side at the bottom of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier table.

Moore was best known in his playing days for his successful period at AFC Wimbledon.

Sammy was a youth player at Charlton Athletic and Chelsea before moving to Ipswich Town, where he made his professional debut. He played for Brentford, Stevenage Borough and Dover Athletic before his five years with the Dons, then turned out for Leyton Orient before signing for Leatherhead as Player-Manager. His success at Fetcham Grove, where he steered them to a famous cup run and missed out on the playoffs on goal difference, saw him snapped up by National League South Concord Rangers.

He left Canvey despite steering Rangers to the playoffs, and became manager of Hemel Hempstead Town, leaving at the end of the 2019-20 season. He joined Potters Bar Town at the start of 2022, then moved to Faversham Town when his Scholars side were top of the table.

He left Faversham in January 2024, and has since had a very brief spell in charge of Hythe Town- six matches at the end of the 23-24 campaign and at the start of last season.

Ian Hendon joins as his Assistant.
