Motormen motor back to the top
Redbridge make it three wins from three -and put four past Bowers
Pitching In Isthmian North Play Off Finalists Redbridge had a magnificent end to last season- and they have taken that form directly into this season, too. Last night saw them play their third League match of the campaign; and it also saw them win their third League match, Bowers and Pitsea their latest victims.
The Motormen looked- on paper, at least- to have a tough start to the campaign. Title favourites Felixstowe and Walton United were up first; and the Seasiders, who, of course, they defeated in the Play off Semi-Final at the end of April, must be rather sick of the sight of them, as they suffered an East London hammering. A trip to highly-fancied Gorleston followed, the Greens missing out on those Play Offs only on goal difference last season, and that brought another victory; and last night it was the turn of Bowers, seventh last season, who were rather demolished at the Techsoc Stadium.
Redbridge went ahead midway through the first half, Louie Remi with the opener, and it remained one-nil at the break.
Early in the second half Karl Kayembe made it two, and it was quickly three, Jack Chawner with that one, a free kick from distance. Jayden Silcott Brown then got one back for the visitors, but Redbridge soon added a fourth, Remi striking again for his fourth of the campaign and his side’s fourth of the night. Right at the end Silcott-Brown brought it back to four-two for the visitors, but the damage was done, and the Motormen move three points ahead of second place- and their tenants- Hashtag United. That’s two defeats from two for the side from the Len Salmon, who sit in nineteenth spot.
The Tags have the chance to regain top spot as they travel to Tilbury tonight; and indeed we have a full set of fixtures in North, South Central and South East Divisions, which you can check out by heading to our Fixtures Page.
