North Supporters Predictions- how did you do?
Last summer- just like every summer- we asked a selection of our supporters to predict the final table. Here’s how you did!
Every summer we ask our supporters to answer questions about their club and to predict the final table, and every summer the outcome provokes debate amongst supporters and club officials alike. Often the predicted tables end up pinned to dressing room walls to use as motivation- we’ve seen the evidence- and, as you will see, on many occasions that seems to work!
Anyway, now that the dust has settled, it’s time to see how you did- starting with Pitching In Isthmian North.
Let’s start with the positives- you managed to correctly predict the top three for a second season in a row- and this time in the right order, too! You were also correct on two of the bottom four, and not too far away with a number of other clubs- although Stanway Rovers and Redbridge did far better than you expected, as did Wroxham!
Here’s what you suggested would happen:
1. Maldon & Tiptree- you were right on the money!
2. Felixstowe and Walton United- right again- and indeed the race between the top two couldn’t have been closer
3. Waltham Abbey- three out of three
4. Brightlingsea Regent- Regent, of course, had recently reached the Play Off Final when you made your predictions, and they couldn’t continue as they had left off, finishing in fourteenth.
5. Walthamstow- finished the season in fine form, but couldn’t climb any higher than tenth.
6. Lowestoft Town- you expected a good showing from the Trawler Boys, and instead they struggled to stay above the drop zone, but rallied late on to finish sixteenth.
7. Grays Athletic- finished in eighteenth, only three points above the drop zone.
8. Cambridge City- ended the campaign in twelfth.
9. Tilbury- finished the season in eleventh.
10.Bowers & Pitsea- climbed to seventh, and only lost out on a Play Off place on the final day.
11.Gorleston- were much more successful that you expected, ending the campaign in sixth- only goal difference away from a Play Off place.
12.Witham Town- finished in ninth
13.Redbridge- the Motormen did much better than you expected, reaching the Play Off Final- which they only lost on penalties
14.Heybridge Swifts- twenty first and relegated
15.Concord Rangers- nearly right- thirteenth for the Beachboys
16.Stanway Rovers- didn’t Rovers confound your predictions? Fourth place, Play off Final and a deserved promotion. Well done to all.
17.Wroxham- the Yachtsmen had a superb season, and were still in the hunt for a Play Off place on the final day
18.Mildenhall Town- Hall will wish you had ben right. You were only one place out, but that one place made the difference between safety and relegation
19.Newmarket Town- the Jockeys also defied your predictions. Whilst you were only four places out- they finished fifteenth- they were a full thirteen points above the drop zone
20.Brantham Athletic- you expected Athletic to go down, and they did just that, although two places worse than you thought.
21.Takeley- Takeley actually survived by six points after a fine end to the campaign.
22.Downham Town- you were right to predict relegation for Downham, although they were two places better than you’d expected.
Thanks for all of your help with this feature. We’ll be doing it all again in July!
