One, two, three- but nobody wins!
We had plenty of South Central entertainment, and no shortage of goals- but everyone ended up with one point! Kingstonian hit seven in the Cup
Our Pitching In Isthmian South Central campaign continued with three matches last night, each one of them drawn.
Jersey Bulls travelled to Egham Town, the visitors hoping for a win which would take them second- but instead they were two goals down within ten minutes and three-one down six minutes later, before recovering to take a point. Seb Karczewski was the Sarnies hero, claiming the match ball by scoring all three of their goals within the opening sixteen minutes, whilst Lorne Bickley got Bulls first equaliser and brought it back to three-two just before half time. Sammy Henia-Kamau had the last word, making it three-three just before the hour, and that was finally that. Bulls are fifth- and remain unbeaten- whilst Town are seventeenth, but three unbeaten in League and Trophy.
Hendon also had an eye on second place as they played host to Ashford Town. The hosts saw Sam Shaban -who scored against the Tangerines in a Velocity Cup win earlier this month- put them ahead just before half time, but midway through the second half Alex Paine levelled for the visitors only two minutes after emerging from the bench. Hendon are fourth, Town thirteenth.
Windsor and Eton were the hosts for AFC Stoneham, and they rolled out the welcome mat in the first half, falling behind on twenty five minutes- Tom Annetts the scorer- and then went two down five minutes later, Duarte Martins making the visitors a little more comfortable. As it turned out they weren’t quite comfortable enough, but they looked like taking the points home with them despite Isiah Chase halving the arrears early in the second half, until Freddy Dunham delivered an equaliser in aded time.
Windsor are tenth, whilst Stoneham remain second from bottom- and still wait for a Step Four win.
The Velocity Cup First Round saw Ascot United come from behind to defeat South Park Reigate three-two, Hani Berchiche with two of the Yellas goals, whilst Broadbridge Heath found a way past Raynes Park Vale on penalties after a two-two draw.
Cobham also hosted a South Central v South East clash against Peacehaven & Telscombe, and won two-one, whilst Kingstonian were the night’s top scorers as they travelled to Horley Town, winning seven-two. Charlie Bland and Dennis Kelmendi each scored a brace.
Margate and Merstham drew two-two at the seaside, but the Moatsiders triumphed from the spot, whilst Whitstable Town walloped Deal Town four-nil, two of those coming from Kane Rowland.
In the Second Round Crowborough Athletic got the better of Hastings United but they needed a shootout to do it after a two-two draw, whilst Hayes & Yeading United were two-one winners against Binfield. Sheppey United and Herne Bay drew one-one, before the Ites won a mammoth shootout nine-eight.
