Performance of the Season: Three Bridges 3 Sittingbourne 2

Performance of the Season: Three Bridges 3 Sittingbourne 2

We're looking back at performances that were nominated for or won our Shepherd Neame Performance of the Month Award. Bridges ended the longest unbeaten run in the League.

Sittingbourne had won our Shepherd Neame Performance of the Month Award for five months in a row, so it seemed somehow fitting that it went to the side who defeated them!

The Brickies looked to make it thirty matches unbeaten as they headed to Three Bridges on Saturday 8th March, and they made the breakthrough against their play off chasing hosts midway through the first half, Liam Smith with the goal- but Bridges, with only two defeats from ten, were soon level, Noel Leighton delivering the equaliser. Seven minutes into the second half the Brickies struck again, Ryan Kingford the scorer, but they were ahead for only one minute before Leighton equalised for a second time. It looked as if a draw would be the outcome, but then in added time we got late drama galore, a penalty for the hosts, and Ben Holden stepped up to put it away and end that long unbeaten Brickies run.

Bridges, who were also nominated for their hammering of Beckenham Town, had a superb March-  and picked up a trophy to remember it by.
