Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 26-27: Eastbourne Town

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see shortly.

Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

There were many. Jersey Bulls away was a fantastic experience - as a fan of a team at Step 4, the ability to have an overseas away day was incredible, and Bulls were very welcoming. Results and performance wise, I'd say beating Sittingbourne 2-0 at home was a particular highlight...

And what was the worst moment?

... particularly after what the Brickies did to us at their place. A 5-0 defeat at Sittingbourne was very disheartening and left us looking over our shoulder at the teams below us.

Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

It was a close contest, but Nathan Hover got my vote. Such a dependable presence in our defence, be it at centre back or filling in at right back. He rarely misses a game, gives his all and is usually good for a few goals a season as well.

Moving on to your current squad - which players do you think will make a big impact during the 26/27 campaign?

There are many. Alfie Simmons's return after injury is a boost, and I'm sure Sonny Walsh will play a big part after he decided to stay at the Saffrons, after overtures from others in the division.

Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

The squad has not changed much at all from the side who finished 11th last season. Given the constraints the club are working with I would class another season of consolidation as a success.  I'll say 14th.

If you could choose a song for your side to run our to, what would it be- and why?

Fight For Your Right To Party by Beastie Boys.

From all the opposition players you watched last season, which one would you love to see in your side- and why?

It's one of three from last season's champions Three Bridges: Reece Hallard, Noel Leighton or Ade Adeyinka. I'd probably say Hallard, but it's so close I keep changing my mind.

What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Of the teams in the South East I'd go for Peacehaven & Telscombe. If the criteria is the whole of the Isthmian League it has to be The Dripping Pan at Lewes FC. A great ground which is well located (close to the train station and Lewes town centre, which is packed with pubs), the Pan offers a variety of food offerings and has a brilliant bar.

If you travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Easy one, this: Deal Town. However, newly promoted Steyning Town do an incredible burger.
