Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 26-27: Punjab United
Ben Brown introduces our South East newcomers
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
Last season was a very successful year for the club. From winning promotion to Step 4 for the first time in our history, to making the FA Vase Semi-Final. It was a great year for the club and we hope we can create more history this season.
And what was the worst moment?
The worst moment last season had to be when we lost 2-0 in the second leg of the FA Vase Semi-Final. It was heartbreaking but was also when we started a great run in the league to secure the playoffs and win promotion.
Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
There were so many great players last year that helped us secure promotion but if I had to pick one it would be Jack Hopkins for his 25 goals from midfield that helped us secure promotion.
Moving on to your current squad - which players do you think will make a big impact during the 26/27 campaign?
Our two defenders, captain Wayne Bushell and Kyden Lewin-Thomas are two players that I feel that will make a big impact this season. They were rock solid in defence last season and this season they will make a huge difference in our defence.
Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
I know how tough this league can be but with our home record and with the players we’ve got who have already played at this level and leagues above, I know this team can perform to a good level. I’m hoping that we can avoid relegation comfortably but with this league, you just never know!
If you could choose a song for your side to run our to, what would it be- and why?
Mundian to Bach Ke - Panjabi MC & Jay Z - This is our current walkout song which is used when the players enter the pitch. It shows the club's Punjab identity and how as a club we are multicultural.
From all the opposition players you watched last season, which one would you love to see in your side- and why?
From last season, Fisher full-back Lorenzo Duncan was a standout when we played against him. He contributed a lot to Fisher and was very hard to defend against.
What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
From the grounds I’ve been to so far, Faversham is my favourite but from what I’ve been told Hasting’s ground is up there too!
If you travelled away, which ground served the best food?
I went to Sittingbourne a few times last season and their food was great. With going to so many new grounds it will be good to see what different teams produce.
Please predict your top five:
Faversham Town
AFC Croydon Athletic
Herne Bay
Sittingbourne
Margate
