Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 26-27: Walthamstow

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see shortly.

Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Coming from 2-0 down to beat champions Maldon & Tiptree 3-2 at home on the final day was a great way to end a challenging season. There was also a week in September when we beat Leighton Town 5-3 in the Trophy, and Witham Town 5-0 away. It looked like things were on the up…

And what was the worst moment?

A few weeks later, losing 6-0 to Waltham Abbey in the Trophy. It began a rut which we didn’t get out of until the spring.

Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Jordan Peart – played almost every game and was probably the best left back in the league. Sealed a great season with a goal on the final day.

Moving on to your current squad - which players do you think will make a big impact during the 26/27 campaign?

It’s been a tumultuous pre-season, so it’s difficult to say. It looks like we’ve only got two players remaining from last season; Callum Ibe and Jarred Small. Both are consistent and know what it takes to play at this level.

Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Play-offs or relegation. Nothing in between.

If you could choose a song for your side to run our to, what would it be- and why?

The lads who do the music at our ground go through a catalogue of 10-minute long songs that no one's ever heard of before, so I'll leave this one up to them.

From all the opposition players you watched last season, which one would you love to see in your side- and why?

Harry Wright in the Felixstowe goal is probably the best keeper I’ve seen at this level for a long time. (Even if we always seem to score past him!)

What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

I’m still mourning the loss of our trips to Mile End Stadium from our Essex Senior League days, and Sporting Bengal’s one season in the Isthmian. This season I'm looking forward to Buckhurst Hill; a ground which makes you feel in the countryside, despite being only 10 minutes from my house.

If you travelled away, which ground served the best food?

There's only ever going to be one winner in the North - Tilbury
