Striker Matt Price heads to Grays- and scores on his debut
Grays Athletic brought in striker Matt Price in midweek, and he scored on his debut against Takeley.
Matt has most recently been playing Essex Senior League football with one of our former clubs, Romford, who he joined last season. He started the 25-26 campaign with Maldon and Tiptree, playing six times and scoring once, after three goals in twenty one appearances during 24-25.
You'll also remember Matt scoring sixteen goals in twenty eight appearances to help Bowers and Pitsea to promotion via the Play Offs in 23-24, and for his three spells with Brentwood Town, who he left in November 2023 after making eight appearances in the last spell, scoring twice.
He scored seven goals for Heybridge Swifts during the 22-23 season, after returning to the club in February. He rejoined Swifts from Billericay Town, where he played fifteen times and scored two goals.
Matthew had a magnificent 2021-22 season for Canvey Island, scoring thirty two times- including the equaliser in the Play Off Final against Brentwood. He was previously with Coggeshall Town, East Thurrock United, and- of course- Swifts, where he scored twenty two goals in 2018-19, and thirty six the season before (half for Brentwood), winning the Golden Boot. He previously played for Horsham and Tooting & Mitcham United.
