Rooks, Hill and Blues win on our Premier Tuesday
Lewes, Burgess Hill Town and Wingate & Finchley triumph- and we’ve Leafe v Hawks tonight
Lewes moved up to second place in the table after a hard-fought win at Three Bridges, their third victory in a row. Brian Garzon and Noel Fisher struck for the Rooks, Ade Adeyinka striking for the hosts, and as it was our featured match you can read all about it HERE. Bridges remain third from bottom.
Elsewhere in Sussex it was also a good night for Burgess Hill Town, the Hillians unbeaten run stretching to NINE after a two-nil win over Dulwich Hamlet. There were no goalkeeper diving headers on this occasion so things were a little more routine than they had been on Saturday, but a deflected effort from Joel Daly put them ahead midway through the first half and a header from Ben Pope just before the hour sent the hosts up to eighth in the table.
Wingate and Finchley made it two wins from three- or, if you like, three wins from six- as they saw off Ramsgate in North London. It took an own goal to break the deadlock early in the second half, and with seventeen minutes remaining the hosts doubled their lead, Anointed Chukwu swivelling his way past defender and keeper to slot home. Wingate are fourteenth, the Rams remain sixth.
We have a match this evening, too, and it’s a rather important match at the wrong end of the table, as fifth bottom AFC Whyteleafe host second bottom Whitehawk. Leafe will hope to build upon their victory over another of the strugglers, Stanway Rovers, on Saturday- whilst their visitors have lost their last three, and indeed four of their last five. Remember, Leafe are now sharing with Cray Wanderers at Flamingo Park- don't head to Whyteleafe!
