Salter agrees new deal as Brightlingsea Regent boss

Brightlingsea Regent manager Ryan Salter has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Having taken over at North Road from Brett Munyard in November 2024, the 35-year-old led his side to the Isthmian North play-off final in 2024/25, falling to a late 1-0 defeat to Bury Town, before going on to guide the team to a mid-table finish last term.

With his experience at the R’s as a player, previously representing them 106 times, as well as managerial spells with Aveley and local rivals FC Clacton, Salter and his players will be motivated to go one better than that agonising 2024/25 campaign when the new season comes around.

In a statement confirming the new deal, the club said that Salter’s “leadership and dedication has helped lay the necessary foundations for the future”, adding that they believe the best is “yet to come” during his time in charge.

On securing Salter’s services until 2028, chairman Terry Doherty said: “It was easy to award Ryan a new two-year contract, and we will continue to support him in all his endeavours at the Regent.

“As well as being an excellent manager and coach, he is a brilliant club man.

“He takes an avid interest in all aspects of the club and being a proud family man, connects superbly with players, staff and supporters.”
