Seven points clear- but a tough challenge awaits the Rocks

Leaders Bognor Regis Town have had an almost-perfect start to their season, and start the weekend seven points clear at the top- but after victory over second place Winchester City last time out their tough week ends with the visit of third place AFC Portchester. The travelling Royals may be seven points behind but they do have a game in hand and are also unbeaten, so will be aware that victory at Nyewood Lane would go a long way towards beginning to reduce that gap, and they’d won five in a row before a narrow defeat to Step Two side Brackley Town in the Cup last weekend. The sides have already met this season- a goalless draw.

Second place Winchester City will hope to put that Bognor defeat behind them as they head to South West London, Raynes Park Vale their hosts. City are actually four without a win- although three of those were draws; whilst Vale walloped Ascot United four-nil last weekend and will want to make that the start of a positive run; particularly as only goal difference is keeping them out of the top seven.

Kingstonian have had a superb start to the campaign and start the weekend in fifth place- eight points behind the leaders but with two games in hand. The K’s, who scored six in midweek, are following the Thames down to Windsor & Eton (although we suspect they won’t go by boat!), their hosts in fifteenth after playing only four times in the League so far this season- some sides have played double that number. They’ve two wins and two draws from their four matches- and put up a decent show in defeat to Premier side Eastbourne Borough last weekend.

Sixth place Westfield are the hosts for bottom side Binfield, the visitors still without a win or a point this season. The Woking side have won three in a row, whilst the Moles haven’t defeated these opponents in nine attempts. 

Cobham are in eighth, outside the top seven on goal difference, and could jump as high as fourth if they can defeat Harrow Borough. The visitors are just outside the bottom four but have won two of their last three in League and Cups so will hope they have embarked on an upward trajectory. 

Ashford Town are at home to Hartley Wintney, fourteenth v tenth- although there is only one point between the sides at kick off. The Tangerines will hope to make it seven points from three matches, whilst the Row are four unbeaten, grabbing a late point against AFC Stoneham in midweek- that result following an eight-one win in Littlehampton last weekend.

Littlehampton followed their hammering against Hartley with a comfortable midweek win over Cobham, and their form has been rather Jekyll and Hyde so far this season. The Golds hit the road to Ascot United, the Yellas hoping to stop the rot after four defeats in a row.
