Shepherd Neame Performance of the Month, April 2026
Here are our last performance awards of the campaign - and four deserved winners
Our congratulations for some superb performances go to the following clubs:
Pitching In Isthmian Premier
Welling United travelled to Cray Wanderers on the penultimate Saturday of the season in great need of points to ensure they remained outside of the bottom four. It didn’t look good for Wings at half time, as they were two goals down courtesy of Ola Ogunwamide and Max Fiddes, and it still didn’t look good with an hour on the clock as the scores remained the same, but then, everything clicked for the visitors. Noah Stewart got a goal back, and fifteen minutes later Ayman El-Mogharbel drew them level. Still they weren’t finished, and right at the end Ibby Akanbi completed the turnaround to give the visitors three crucial points and secure their safety.
Many congratulations to all at the club.
Pitching In Isthmian North
It is rather incredible how many times a side have been given this award for victory over Maldon and Tiptree, and we’re not likely to buck an established trend, so our prize goes to Walthamstow. The last day of the season saw the Jammers travel to East London with the title as good as guaranteed, and they were able to celebrate at the end of the match- but they went home with no points.
The Jammers were two goals up with twenty minutes to go and perhaps thought that they had victory secured. If so, they were very wrong. With eighteen minutes left Brian Garzon halved the deficit, and seven minutes after that Jordan Peart delivered an equaliser. Still the hosts weren’t finished, and on eighty six minutes Ferhat Canlier delivered a fine winner, sealing three points- and our Shepherd Neame Performance of the Month Award.
Many congratulations.
Pitching In Isthmian South Central
On the last Saturday of the campaign Moneyfields, in fourth place, welcomed second place Westfield. We knew already that Field would take home advantage in the Play Off Semi-Finals, but the Moneys knew that to have any chance of the same they would need to better Hanworth Villa’s result to snatch third place. They didn’t quite manage to do that- but they certainly got the better of their visitors, and in some style.
Faris Khallouqi put the Moneys ahead midway through the first half, and just before the break James Franklyn added another. Khallouqi soon struck again, and on fifty five minutes they were four up, Lucias Vine with that one. Westfield did manage a consolation- but it wasn’t much of a consolation as they ended up on the end of a hammering.
Congratulations to the Moneys- your final day performance picks up our award.
Pitching In Isthmian South East Division
Hassocks were fighting for their lives as second place AFC Croydon Athletic came to call, and they gave themselves a lifeline with a fine performance to defeat the promotion chasers. The Rams went ahead midway through the first half, but the Robins rallied, and had soon turned the match on its head.
Zack Henry levelled seven minutes before the break, Liam Benson put them ahead a few minutes later, and early in the second half Jack Troak made quite sure of victory by scoring a third. After that only the Robins looked like scoring, and had you not known which of the two was fighting for promotion you’d certainly not have guessed it was the visitors.
Many congratulations to the Robins on winning our prize- and we hope to see you back with us soon.
Many thanks to our sponsors, Shepherd Neame, the oldest brewers in Britain.
