South Central Supporters Predictions- how did you do?

South Central Supporters Predictions- how did you do?

Last summer- just like every summer- we asked a selection of our supporters to predict the final table. Here’s how you did!

Every summer we ask our supporters to answer questions about their club and to predict the final table, and every summer the outcome provokes debate amongst supporters and club officials alike. Often the predicted tables end up pinned to dressing room walls to use as motivation- we’ve seen the evidence- and, as you will see, on many occasions that seems to work!

Anyway, now that the dust has settled, it’s time to see how you did- with Pitching In Isthmian South Central up next.

Let’s start with the positives. You were pretty good at predicting who would struggle, getting three of the bottom four correct; indeed you got six of the bottom seven, although not necessarily in the right order. Rather less positively, we suspect promoted Uxbridge are laughing at you!

Here’s what you suggested would happen:

1. Leatherhead- the Tanners had a rather hit and miss campaign, and ended it in eight place, four points away from a play off spot.

2. Kingstonian- well, the K’s did spend most of the season in second place, before eventually finishing fifth.

3. Farnham Town- you thought that our runaway title winners would be good- it just turned out that they were even better!

4. Raynes Park Vale- Vale eventually ended the season in ninth, with ten points fewer than they’d have needed to be fourth.

5. Southall- The All were consistently inconsistent, and eventually ended up thirteenth.

6. Hayes & Yeading Utd- absolutely as you sugested, United missed out on the play offs by one point.

7. Rayners Lane- Lane were very good on occasions despite some upheaval, but eventually ended the season in eleventh.

8. Hanworth Villa- the Villains did much better than you predicted, finishing third and reaching the Play Off Final.

9. Westfield- ended the season in twelfth spot.

10. Harrow Borough- started the season really well, but the second half of the campaign will not live long in the memory. Finished in fourteenth place.

11. South Park Reigate- the Sparks ended the season in fifteenth, a positive end of season flurry seeing off the spectre of relegation.

12. Moneyfields- the Moneys were perhaps unknown quantities, and after a slow start had a marvellous campaign, which ended with them only two points away from the top five. Had the season lasted a couple of matches more, they could well have cracked the top five.

13. Ascot United- the Yellas greatly exceeded your expectations, a Play off Semi-Final and fourth place the reward for a superb season.

14. Hartley Wintney- the Row did slightly better than you expected, ending the campaign in tenth place after earlier flirting with the top five.

15. Badshot Lea- the Baggies couldn’t follow up their positive 23-24, and managed to win only three matches all season to finish bottom of the pile, twenty five points away from safety.

16. Uxbridge- when you suggested that Uxbridge would struggle they took that as a challenge, and ended up in second place and promoted via the Play Offs. You really dropped the ball with this prediction!

17. Horndean- spot on! The Deans ended the campaign only a point above the drop zone.

18. Binfield- right again! Only one point kept the Moles out of the bottom four.

19. Met Police- You weren’t too far away when predicting that the Boys in Blue would struggle- they ended the season in sixteenth, only two points clear of the bottom four.

20. Ashford Town- absolutely right. The Tangerines did end the season in twentieth spot, but perhaps they could have done better had they not had tom play nearly all of the season away from home. They’ll be back on their own patch for the new campaign, but sadly no longer on our patch.

21. Sutton Common Rovers- again, you were exactly right. You placed Rovers second from bottom, and that’s exactly where they finished.

22. Guernsey- the Green Lions did better than you expected, finishing nineteenth, but unfortunately the outcome was very much the same.

Thanks for all of your help with this feature. We’ll be doing it all again in July!
