South East Supporters Predictions- how did you do?

Every summer we ask our supporters to answer questions about their club and to predict the final table, and every summer the outcome provokes debate amongst supporters and club officials alike. Often the predicted tables end up pinned to dressing room walls to use as motivation- we’ve seen the evidence- and, as you will see, on many occasions that seems to work!

Anyway, now that the dust has settled, it’s time to see how you did- with Pitching In Isthmian South East up next.

Let’s start with the positives. You managed to predict three of the bottom four- not that the clubs involved would definitely see that as a positive! Apart from that…well, the table speaks for itself so we’ll say no more. 

Here’s what you suggested would happen:

1. Sittingbourne- the Bric lies finished fifth, and fell to Play Off Semi-Final defeat

2. Margate- sixth, four points away from a Play Off place

3. Merstham- tenth

4. Hastings United- Hastings had a fairly forgettable and occasionally worrying (for their supporters) campaign, finishing seventeenth

5. Beckenham Town- top five? Twentieth, and relegated. 

6. Sheppey United- only clinched survival on the final day, eighteenth

7. Ashford United- nearly right, the Nuts and Bolts ending the campaign in ninth after a storming end to the season

8. Deal Town- absolutely right, eighth for Deal

9. Sevenoaks Town- twelfth

10.Jersey Bulls- did much better than you expected, finishing the campaign in third place

11.Three Bridges- eleventh? Really? Bridges swept to the title, winning it by eleven points and scoring more goals than anyone else in the League

12.Herne Bay- you were nearly right, thirteenth

13.AFC Croydon Athletic- the Rams did much better than you expected, finishing second and only losing the Play Off Final on penalties

14.AFC Whyteleafe- all hail Leafe, three promotions in a row! Finished fourth, won the Play Off Final on penalties

15.Broadbridge Heath- absolutely right, fifteenth

16.Faversham Town- the Lilywhites were in the promotion mix nearly all season, and then slipped to seventh in the closing stages

17.Erith Town- sixteenth, after a strong end to the season

18.Eastbourne Town- did much better than you predicted, ending the season in eleventh

19.VCD Athletic- relegated as you suggested, twenty first

20.Hassocks- still had hope on the last day, but ended the season in nineteenth and relegated

21.East Grinstead- had a dreadful season, marooned at the bottom with only one win

22.Crowborough Athletic- vastly better than you suggested, finishing the season in fourteenth
