Spillane of City

Mickey Spillane is the new Cambridge City boss

Cambridge City have announced their replacement for Jamie Cureton, and the new name in the dugout belongs to Michael Spillane.

Mickey makes the move to City from Chelmsford City, where he has been part of the management team for a number of years, moving into coaching when he retired from playing for the Clarets. Most recently he steered the Academy side to the National League U19 Alliance Division A title.

As a player, he came through the Academy at Norwich City before graduating to the first team. Whilst with the Canaries he spent time on loan at Luton Town, and then moved to Brentford. Next came spells at Southend United, Dagenham and Redbridge, Cambridge United, Sutton United and Lowestoft Town, before becoming a big part of the first team at Chelmsford.
