Sports slay giants- and Westfield cause a scare!

Sports slay giants- and Westfield cause a scare!

Bedfont Sports progress in the cup, whilst in the league we have wins for Vale, Harrow, Yellas, Sparks, Hayes and Southall

Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round

Deal Town played host to Egham Town in a South East v South Central battle. An own goal put the hosts ahead on the half hour, but the Sarnies soon scored at the right end, Ibrahim Nagheen levelling eight minutes before half time. Ash Miller put Deal ahead once more fifteen minutes from time, and this time they held onto that lead.

Fareham Town put their fine home form- four wins in a row- on the line as they welcomed Sholing.  After a goalless first half the visitors controlled the second, and eventually went through by three goals to nil.

Bedfont Sports didn’t have too far to travel, heading to face Hanwell Town. Sports have had a very positive start to their South Central lives, and went ahead just before half time thanks to Jamie Fuller. What they had, they held- a giant killing for the visitors! Image courtesy of the club.

Westfield welcomed our Pitching In Isthmian League champions Horsham to Woking Park, and the Hornets made the breakthrough from the spot on twenty six minutes. The hosts weren’t downhearted, and they levelled on sixty six minutes, Finn Evans making it one-one, and then they were in dreamland, Kiye Martin putting them ahead. They had seventeen minutes to hold out, could they? No. Twelve minutes from time the visitors made it two-two, and as it turned out that was that, so the sides will head to Sussex in midweek.

Leaders Leatherhead have been magnificent so far this season, but they fell behind just before the break as they took on Hendon in a green on green battle, Keagan Cole making the breakthrough. Nathan Hogan equalised for the Tanners, from the spot, on sixty six minutes, but Hendon then got a spot kick, and Nico Muir put that away nine minutes from time. Could the visitors hold on? They couldn’t, Hogan somehow conjuring up an equaliser in added time.

The Tanners are four points clear at the top and remain unbeaten- but they have played a game more than the chasing pack.

Bognor Regis Town travelled to take on Raynes Park Vale. The hosts had lost four in a row in League and Cups, and they fell behind in this one just after the half hour, Dan Gifford converting from the spot, but they were soon level, Kenny Beaney repeating the feat from the spot to make it one-one just before the break- and there was still time for Tyler Cox to put them ahead before they all headed off for a half time orange. The travelling Rocks levelled thirteen minutes from time, Lee Seok-Jae making it two-two, but six minutes later the fifth goal of the contest went to Vale, Omarr Lawson putting them ahead once more. That was also the final goal of the contest, and it lifts the hosts to second.

Harrow Borough have had a positive start to the season, but looked to have a tough task as they hosted Kingstonian, Borough went ahead on twenty two minutes, Gareth Chendlik doing what he does best, and the task looked less tough when Lenny Farhall made it two five minutes later. Farhall has been in great form, and he took his tally up to five when making it three-nil two minutes into the second half, and that was that, three goals and three points- and third place.

Ascot United have been superb at home this season, but they were still looking for a first away win as they travelled to Horndean. The Yellas went ahead on eighteen minutes, Cheick Sylla opening the scoring, and they doubled that lead six minutes before the break, Fopefoluwa Deru making it two. That turned out to be that, Ascot in fourth place in the table.

South Park Reigate went ahead against visitors Binfield nine minutes before half time, Dan Moody with the goal, and the Moles resistance crumbled once more twelve minutes from time, Shamal Edwards making it two. The Sparks climb to fifth.

It was a big day for Hanworth Villa as they re-opened Rectory Meadow after a great deal of improvements, Hayes & Yeading United the visitors. Villa should have gone ahead six minutes before half time, but Sam Merson’s spot kick hit the post, but the match looked as if it was going to end goalless, only for Remi Onabanjo to spoil the party and deliver United the points two minutes into added time. There was still time for the visitors Isaac Olorunfemi to see red, but not enough time for a Villa equaliser.

After a goalless first half Southall finally punctured AFC Portchester two minutes into the second, Daniel Roberts putting the hosts ahead, and ten minutes later it was two, Makael Scott doubling the lead. Connor Duffin quickly got one back from the visitors, from the spot, but that was as good as it got for them, a first win of the campaign for The All.
