Joe Taylor rejoins former boss Ben Smith at Herne Bay

Striker Joe Taylor has been announced as the latest arrival at Herne Bay, where he rejoins his former Ramsgate boss Ben Smith.

Joe scored forty eight goals for Ramsgate during the 24-25 season as they took the Pitching In Isthmian South East title, after fifty three goals the season before.

He departed the club in the summer of 2025 and started last season with Hornchurch in National League South. He then had a short spell with Billericay Town before a return to Ramsgate in September, and scored nine goals in seventeen matches before a short spell at Margate which saw him play nine times. He ended last season by scoring three goals in six matches as AFC Greenwich Borough won the SCEFL Division One title.

Joe has, of course, won our Golden Boot in the top flight with both Cray Wanderers and Lewes, and in the South East Division with the Rams. He has also picked up two National Game Awards courtesy of the Non League Paper.

He played for Margate much earlier in his career. He has also turned out for Sittingbourne, Farnborough, Folkestone Invicta and Ebbsfleet United.
