Three crucial points for The All- as the Yellas fall into the drop zone

Southall come from behind to defeat Ascot United

We had a rather important match in Pitching In Isthmian South Central last night, with Southall ‘hosting’ Ascot United- twentieth versus eighteenth, two points between them at kick off.

The match, which was moved to Bedfont Sports so that it would defeat the weather, was between two sides in contrasting form. Southall’s narrow defeat at Bognor Regis Town at the weekend was their first in six matches, whilst their visitors had rather lost their way, and made the trip having taken only two points from their previous eight matches.

Despite that, it was the Yellas who took the lead, Tyrone Shiham controlling a pass from Sean Fraser and firing home. They weren’t ahead for long. Only four minutes later Bright Siaw, who has played an enormous part in their improved run of results, set up Dan Roberts for the equaliser.

The hosts began to dominate, and they went ahead with twenty minutes remaining, a foul on Shaw ending in a spot kick. Roberts stepped up and put it away for his sixteenth goal at the season- and now they only had to hold on to what they had, which they did- despite an effort from the Yellas which required a fine save from keeper Milan Czerwonka.

Southall climbed to seventeenth, whilst United dropped into the bottom four.

The All are back in action on Friday, their match against Raynes Park Vale being played at Uxbridge FC. The Yellas have another difficult trip in prospect on Saturday, as they travel to take on promotion chasing Westfield.
