Walker and Figueira form a deadly Lewes duo

Charlie Walker and Walter Figueira provide new attacking options for the Rooks

Prior to Saturday's big kick off, Lewes announced two attacking arrivals.

Walter Figueira ended last season at Raynes Park Vale, making twelve appearances and scoring twice. He moved to Vale from Carydon Athletic, making eleven appearances for the Rams, the last of them on Tuesday 21st January. He also played once for Cray Valley PM last season.

Walter was a Chelsea youth as a youngster, playing regularly for the Under 18 and Under 21 sides at Stamford Bridge. He played for Hayes & Yeading United and then went off to play in Greece, before coming back to the UK and joining our ranks. He played half a dozen times for Bognor Regis Town and seven more for Wingate and Finchley, scoring his only goal for the club as they defeated Burgess Hill Town in February 2017. He then spent a short time in Portugal with Moura, before heading back our way once more, joining Dulwich Hamlet after their promotion to National League South.

Walter was then a critical part of Merstham's Playoff Finalists in 2018-19, scoring nineteen goals along the way. That form earned him a move to Ireland, where he played for Waterford, Derry City and Sligo Rovers. He returned to our shores and played for Kingstonian, playing nineteen times and scoring three goals, and the 22-23 season saw him play twenty two times for Carshalton Athletic, scoring twice, before returning to Bognor Regis Town, where he played twenty three times. He moved to Haringey Borough, where he played thirty four times during the 23-24 season, and scored three goals, before ending that campaign at Lewes, playing seven times and scoring twice.

Charlie Walker moves inland from Whitehawk. He joined the Hawks in the summer of 2023 from Eastbourne Borough, and managed twenty four goals from fifty appearances during his first Enclosed Ground season, six in forty one last season.

Charlie actually spent a little time with the Hawks more than a decade ago, before he first joined manager Shaun Saunders at Peacehaven & Telscombe- scoring like wildfire as his side took an Isthmian South and Sussex Senior Cup double, form which earned him a move to Luton Town. His season with the Hatters included a loan spell at Boreham Wood, and after leaving Kenilworth Road he went on to play for Aldershot Town and St Albans City. He returned to the Sussex coast with Eastbourne Borough in 2018, and became something of a fan favourite at Sports.
