Mulbarton Wanderers have had a frustrating time in the FA Cup, forced into a replay against a Woodford Town side who they had already defeated ten days ago- but they proved that they could put their annoyance behind them and win the tie again. Both goals came in the second half, and both goals went to Ashley Jarvis, the striker- who already has three in the League this season- increasing his tally and booking a Third Qualifying Round home match against Gloucester City on Saturday in the process. City, nineteenth in Pitching In Southern Premier South, won’t relish their trip to Norfolk.
A club record crowd of eight hundred and six watched on.
Back in Pitching In Isthmian North Hashtag United and Wroxham both had their eyes on top spot as they met in East London, but the two sides had to be content with a point as the Yachtsmen grabbed the latest of equalisers.
All of the goals arrived in the second half, and the Tags were twice ahead. Jaden Crowhurst opened the scoring eleven minutes after the break, Louis Simmons levelling eight minutes later, and it looked like the Tags had. Taken the points when Jason Ring restored their lead ten minutes from time- but with eight extra minutes played Charlie Moore delivered an equaliser. The Tags slip to second, and Wroxham are third.
Gorleston were just along the road from their two rivals, playing Buckhurst Hill, and the Greens took over at the top by scoring a goal in each half. In truth their first goal was scored for them on twenty eight minutes, an own goal, and Dion Frary made quite sure of the points seventeen minutes from time, two-nil the final score.
Newmarket Town are up to seventh, coming from behind to be the latest side to make Canvey Island miserable. The Gulls delighted the home fans by going ahead after only five minutes, Elliott Ronto the scorer, but they’d have been less delighted when Lennon King levelled in first half added time and rather unhappy when Elliott Reeves got a winner for the Jockeys ten minutes from time. Canvey are third from bottom.
Fakenham Town are still looking for their first win of the campaign, but they did take a point as they welcomed title-favourites Felixstowe and Walton United, whose slow start to the season continued. Fin Whiteley was the star for the hosts, putting them ahead just after the half hour and drawing them level early in the second half after Billy Holland and Tom Warren had turned the match around for the Seasiders. Ethan Garcia made it three-two to the visitors, but eighteen minutes from time Dylan Coslett made it three-three, and that was how it ended. Image from Stefan Peck.
Brightlingsea Regent are another side still searching for an opening victory of the campaign, and they could only pick up one point as they hosted AFC Sudbury. Joseph Watson put Regent ahead on eleven minutes, George Chenery quickly levelled, and the scoring stopped there.
In the Velocity Cup First Round Witham Town got the better of Little Oakley, winning five-two in a match that had seven different scorers.
