Will Hendon return to the top?

We’re having another FA Trophy weekend, and Hendon can take advantage. The Greens are on the road to Hartley Wintney, and victory will send them to the summit on goal difference, with current leaders Bognor Regis Town in FA Trophy action and second place Winchester City getting the weekend off. 

Hendon are unbeaten in the League; indeed they’ve won seven of nine competitive fixtures so far this season, only Hastings United getting the better of them in the Trophy. The Row have only managed two League fixtures so far, winning the last one- and they did the double over the Greens last season. 

Windsor and Eton meet AFC Portchester- the Royals travelling to the land of the other Royals, you know, the ones with the big castle. Both sides are just outside the top seven, indeed they are tied on points, and the winners, if indeed there are winners, will climb to fourth. Windsor are looking to make it three League wins in a row, whilst Portchester picked up a win last time out after drawing their opening three fixtures, although that doesn’t tell the whole story of their season, their nine competitive matches so far bringing only one defeat. 

Kingstonian will hope to follow up their Cup ‘giant killing’ at Three Bridges last week with another victory on the road, as they travel to Harrow Borough. The K’s are unbeaten in the League, and indeed have only lost one of seven competitive fixtures- on penalties. Borough saw their future secured this week, but they had to sell their ground to fund that, which makes it something of a mixed blessing. They are still without a win of any kind this season. 

Borough took four points from the K’s last season without conceding a goal.

Ashford Town start the weekend in fourteenth place, and they welcome third bottom Littlehampton Town to the edge of the airport. The Tangerines have lost their last two League matches; indeed they’ve lost five of six competitive fixtures so far this season- whilst the Golds are still looking for a first League win but are unbeaten in their last two and will be confident that they can soon begin turning improved performances into victories. 

Cobham, in fifteenth, host bottom side Binfield. The Moles have had a disastrous start to the campaign, losing each of their four League matches and also departing the Cup and the Trophy at the first hurdle, so will be determined to begin turning a corner, whilst their hosts have had a mixed start to life at Step Four but have won three of seven competitive matches this season. They have, however, lost their last two- and they won’t want that to become a hat trick.

The FA Trophy sees Raynes Park Vale travel to take on South East side Croydon Athletic, and AFC Stoneham, cup giant killers in midweek, welcome Didcot Town, their visitors top of Pitching In Southern Division One Central with a one hundred percent record. Town defeated Winchester City in the last round.

Ascot United will hope to bounce back from midweek Cup defeat as they welcome Ashford United, and Moneyfields have a rather long trip to Bristol Manor Farm, who sit just above the bottom four in Pitching In Southern Division One South. Bognor Regis Town travel to take on South East leaders Hastings United in a Sussex seaside derby, whilst Hayes and Yeading United host another bunch of Sussex seasiders, Peacehaven and Telscombe making the trip to West London.

South East promotion hopefuls Herne Bay are the hosts for Southall, and Egham Town will be nearby in Whitstable taking on the Oysterboys.
