Will the Tags stay perfect?

Hashtag United have had a magnificent start to their campaign, winning five out of five whilst averaging more than three goals a game and conceding only once. The Tags hit the road to the seaside where they face an improving Felixstowe and Walton United side; the hosts having won two of their last three after a dreadful start to the campaign. The Seasiders were our title favourites before the campaign kicked off- they will be determined to show why!

Second place Wroxham are only three points behind the leaders, and they welcome ninth place Grays Athletic. The Yachtsmen have won four in a row and scored thirteen goals in the process, concede only two, whilst Athletic have had a mixed campaign but could go three unbeaten should they be able to keep their hosts at bay.

Concord Rangers start the weekend in fourth and unbeaten after four matches. The Beachboys came from two down to score four of their own in Witham in midweek, and will be determined to deliver three more points as they hosts Fakenham Town. Fakenham are still looking for a first League win of the campaign, but have won three times in Cup and Trophy so shouldn’t be underestimated.

Little Oakley will be keen to break into the top seven as they travel to take on fifteenth place Tilbury. With only one defeat from four they’ve had a steady start to their first campaign at this level, whilst the Dockers have only one win from five so far.

Takeley will hope to bounce back from a hammering at the hands of Hashtag in midweek as they host Brightlingsea Regent. Takeley start the weekend in tenth, whilst Regent are second from bottom and still looking for their first League win of the campaign. Both sides took three points from their home fixtures against the other last season.

Newmarket Town are only a point above the bottom four but the Jockeys have really found their feet this week, following a five-two Trophy win over Gorleston with a four-nil Velocity Cup win over Sudbury in midweek. They host a Lowestoft Town side who have looked much improved in their last couple of matches, particularly in last week’s win over Felixstowe and Walton United. Newmarket took six points from the Trawler Boys last season.

AFC Sudbury, third from bottom but having picked up their first win of the campaign last time out, welcome Walthamstow- twentieth versus eighteenth. Stow have lost four in a row and will be desperate to arrest that slide. 

Into the FA Cup. 

St Albans City travel to Witham Town. The hosts will want to bounce back from midweek defeat, when they turned a two-nil lead to a four-two defeat, whilst the Saints are six unbeaten in League and Cup. 

Cambridge City and Buckhurst Hill meet in an all-North clash. City have won three in a row and scored six in midweek, whilst their visitors have been in reasonable form in all competitions, their defeat against Felixstowe in midweek their first in four in League and Cups. 

Canvey Island face National League South opposition in the shape of Chelmsford City. The Gulls have been better in Cups than the League so far this season, unbeaten in five matches in Knockout competitions, whilst their visitors are unbeaten after eight League matches- but have somehow drawn seven of them, leading to chants of “are you Cheshunt in disguise?” No, the Ambers have only drawn five!

Gorleston are at home to Pitching In Southern Premier side Bury Town. The Greens have only one defeat in seven in all competitions, whilst their hosts are flying in third place in their table, their defeat last weekend following seven successive wins in all competitions. 

Mulbarton Wanderers travel to take on Woodford Town, their hosts in mid table in the Essex Senior League’s top flight. Town started the season really well but have lost two in a row in League and Cup, whilst Wanderers have also lost their last two in the League after a positive start.
