We are all Urchins!

What a journey it has been.

Wingate and Finchley, Bowers and Pitsea, Tonbridge Angels, Dulwich Hamlet, Kings Lynn Town, Maidstone United, Darlington- and now, today, Notts County. Five higher-division clubs already vanquished, and only one more stand between our Urchins and the promised land.

Notts County will undoubtedly be the toughest nut to crack so far. Sixth in the National League and playing at their own Meadow Lane, County must be the favourites to win the competition- and yet they've had a week of upheaval, sacking their manager Neal Ardley and replacing him with Ian Burchnall, who has spent the last decade managing in Norway and Sweden and only met his players a couple of days ago.

County have played sixteen matches during 2021. Hornchurch have played three. And yet six of the seven opponents the Urchins have faced since the Isthmian League came to a halt in November have had the advantage of continuing to play football during lockdown- an advantage that hasn't helped anay of them in the slightest.

We're sure that all supporters of Isthmian League clubs will be behind Mark Stimson's men as they run out today. Even the BBC have noticed that football doesn't end at the bottom of League Two, producing this article.
