Four is the magic number!

Invicta score four goals and go four points clear. It's our round up of Tuesday's action

Folkestone Invicta fell to home defeat on Saturday at the hands of Bognor Regis Town- their first home defeat of the season- but quickly had the chance to put that right as East Thurrock United arrived at the BuildKent Stadium last night. The fifth place Rocks had been on a great run of form which had seen them lose only one of their last six, but were on the receiving end of a superb Folkestone performance as the home side ran out four-one winners. Ronnie Dolan and Jerson Dos Santos put the hosts two up before Steve Sheehan found the net for the visitors, but all that did was provoke Invicta to get two more, Ira Jackson and Finn O'Mara obliging to send their side four points clear.

Any slip could have seen Invicta overtaken by Horsham and Enfield Town, but both managed only one point from two tricky fixtures. The Hornets hosted Cray Wanderers at the Camping World Community Stadium, their visitors not having yet lost an away match all season- and that record remained as the visitors came from behind to draw. Not that they were behind too long, Jay Leader equalising for Wands only two minutes after Lea Dawson had given Horsham a first half lead. The Hornets finished the night in second place, Cray in seventh.

The Towners, in third, hosted fourth place Hornchurch on the back of six straight victories- but they couldn't make it number seven, as despite Sam Youngs giving them a fifth minute lead the only other goal was an own goal- and they scored that too, two minutes after the break. The clubs held onto their positions in the table.

Sixth played ninth as Worthing hosted a Carshalton Athletic side rather preoccupied by FA Cup matters of late. The Mackerel Men had only one defeat in their last six- and now it's seven, but that got them only one point after the Robins, who have now drawn their last four league matches, came from behind to take an equal share of the spoils. Lloyd Dawes scored for the Mackerel Men, Tommy Bradford equalised for the Robins.

Thirteenth played seventeenth as Margate took on Merstham, but the inconsistent Blues, who had a record of win-lose-win-lose-win-lose over their last six league matches, were able to keep that sequence going as they managed another win. The Moatsiders have now lost six in a row, but stayed in seventeenth whilst Gate climbed to eleventh. Adem Ramadan got both home goals, including the winner three minutes from time after Yannick Monga had equalised for the visitors.

Bishop's Stortford, who got back to winning ways against Horsham after four straight defeats, travelled to face a Wingate & Finchley side who last won a league match on August Bank Holiday Monday. The visiting Blues got another three points after Ryan Henshaw and Shomari Barnwell fired them into a two goal lead, despite Tommy Tejan-Sie reducing the arrears for the home side just after the half hour.

In the FA Cup, Barnet travelled to the Hive to take on Barnet in their Fourth Qualifying Round replay. The Scholars got a late, late equaliser in front of the TV cameras on Saturday, and scored the next goal too, taking the lead through Ben Ward-Cochrane, but sadly the Bees struck back with three.

We've two Premier Division matches tonight, as Lewes host Corinthian-Casuals and Kingstonian take advantage of Casuals absence to host Bognor Regis Town at King George's Field.

The match between Cray Valley PM and Whyteleafe in the South East Division was abandoned after injury to Jack Sammoutis. Get well soon Jack.

We had a number of fixtures in the Velocity Trophy. In Group One Bury Town defeated Coggeshall Town 3-0, and AFC Sudbury stopped the Maldon and Tiptree juggernaut, winning a penalty shootout- and with it an extra point- after a 2-2 draw.

In Group Three Harlow Town beat Hertford Town 6-2, whilst Ware recorded a 5-2 home win over Cambridge City. Histon and Soham Town Rangers played out a 1-1 draw, Histon winning the shootout.

Group Four saw Chichester City suffer an FA Cup hangover, falling five-nil at home to East Grinstead Town, whilst Hastings United were one-nil winners over Haywards Heath Town at Pilot Field. Burgess Hill Town came from behind to defeat Three Bridges 2-1.

Group Five saw Hanwell Town defeat Marlow 3-0, whilst Bracknell Town also got three at Westfield; whilst in Group six Canvey Island fell to a two-nil home defeat to Great Wakering Rovers whilst Hullbridge Sports defeated Tilbury by the odd goal in seven.

Group Seven saw one-nil away wins for Ramsgate and Herne Bay, at Hythe Town and Faversham Town respectively, whilst Whitstable Town defeated Ashford United three-one.

In Group Nine, Sittingbourne recorded an impressive four-two win at Phoenix Sports, whilst in Group Ten Chipstead and Tooting & Mitcham United played out a 1-1 draw, before the Chips picked up the extra point by winning the shootout.

Tonight Grays Athletic host Romford and Chalfont St Peter are at home to FC Romania.

By the way, we've been asked about the tables for the Velocity Trophy and where they are available. Because this season's format was a trial, we decided not to go to the expense of having the website altered to take into account the additional point for a shootout win and the increased number of substitutes. We were advised that this would be tricky as well as costly, and it was agreed with our clubs that we wouldn't go to that expense until we decided whether to continue with the new format. Tables have, instead, been emailed to clubs after each round of fixtures, and that email will be sent again this week.
