A Cheshunt double

Joe Re and Kenny Coker are new at the Ambers

Cheshunt have announced the return of Joe Re and the permanent signing of Kenny Coker.

Joe came through the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest and then gave up his professional football aspirations for a change of career, which he combined with appearing for Cheshunt. He played thirty times during 2018-19 and was one of the driving forces behind their South Central Play Off victory, and then went on to take the Premier Division by storm, making thirty six appearances before 19-20 fell over, another fifteen before 20-21 went the same way, and an incredible fifty eight- with five goals- as Cheshunt won promotion via the Play Offs during 21-22. He went on to play for the Ambers in National League South, and then remained at that level with Hemel Hempstead Town before returning to us with Potters Bar Town  He made forty two appearances for the Scholars last season.

Kenny Coker comes in from Dover Athletic on a ‘swap’ deal with Dequane Wilson Braithwaite. The forward played for Bowers and Pitsea and Billericay Town in his early youth, before making the step up to Southend United. He played Under 18 football for the Shrimpers and made a brief first team breakthrough before making a move to Norwich City, and was an Under 18 and Under 21 player for the Canaries.

He spent time with Chelmsford City on loan during the 23-24 season, before joining Cray Wanderers in the summer of 2024, making thirty three appearances and scoring six goals before a loan move to the Ambers  in January 2025. His sixteen Cheshunt appearances during the 24-25 season brought seven goals, and earned him a move to Dover Athletic in the summer of 2025- but he was an Amber again in the closing stages of last season, playing five times on loan and scoring once.
