A Final- Premier- Countdown!
We’ve a few things still to resolve- at both ends of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier table
We’ve final reached the final Saturday of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier season, and we’ve still got things to decide.
At the top, champions Folkestone Invicta play host to Cheshunt, the Stripes needing three more goals to reach one hundred for the season, the Ambers quite safe from harm in thirteenth spot. The last time Cheshunt travelled to Folkestone, in January last year, they won four-nil; we suspect they’ll be rather keen to on a repeat, but they might find things slightly more difficult win this occasion.
We know that Aveley, Billericay Town, Brentwood Town and Chatham Town will contest our Play Offs, but we don’t yet know who will play who. The Millers travel to Wingate and Finchley, Billericay head to Welling United, and both have only goal difference between them- so either could take second spot and home advantage all the way through the the Final, should they reach it.
Brentwood and Chatham are both at home, Chichester City and Lewes their visitors. They start the day with one point between them, and we know they’ll be on the road in their Semi-Final, we just don’t know to where.
At the other end of the table relegation has been confirmed for Canvey Island and Potters Bar Town, but the weekend holds enormous significance for Cray Valley PM, Carshalton Athletic and Hashtag United. The Tags, as you know, have asked to be relegated, but start the weekend a point above the drop zone as they host Dulwich Hamlet- and we’re not going to second-guess any FA decisions. Carshalton Athletic occupy the fourth from bottom spot, and they are at home to St Albans City- who defeated the Robins two-one in November.
Cray Valley PM, third from bottom and three points from safety, travel to Dartford. The Millers need to win, and to hope that both Carshalton and the Tags lose.
