Away win Wednesday

Brentwood Town and Takeley take the points- it's our round up, in association with our friends at Dyno-Rod

AFC Whyteleafe hosted Brentwood Town in Pitching In Isthmian Premier, the sides only separated by goal difference at the wrong end of the table as they kicked off.

Brentwood had suffered a slight hiccup as they departed the FA Trophy on penalties at the weekend, but otherwise had shown some improved form- and that improvement was demonstrated as they went ahead in the third minute, Malachi Linton the first to react to a Max Hudson corner and firing home. Their hosts levelled just before the break, Dean Gunner firing past Blues debutant keeper Jack Giddens, and that seemed to be that- but four minutes into added time the visitors created Leafe despair, Hudson again the provider, and this time Bradley Sach finishing things off.

Brentwood climb to sixteenth, Leafe are two points the wrong side of the dividing line between safety and disaster.

Whyteleafe are back in League action on Saturday, travelling to Welling United- whilst Brentwood host a sold out and televised (BBC red button) FA Cup clash against Dagenham and Redbridge.

In Pitching In Isthmian North we had Grays Athletic at home to Takeley. Athletic had only one win from their previous eight fixtures in all competitions and were working to avoid a third defeat in a row, whilst their visitors knew that victory could perhaps take them into the top seven- and were filled with confidence following their FA Trophy win over Step Three side Hitchin Town at the weekend.

Joseph Pullen put Takeley ahead after just nine minutes, heading home the first goal of the evening and his first of the campaign, but new Athletic arrival Matt Price drew them level seven minutes before half time. Ten minutes before the end the visitors sealed victory, George Sykes making it two-one- and they climb to eighth, only goal difference separating them from the play off places. Athletic have only goal difference keeping them outside the bottom four.
