Blues held by Ambers

Brentwood go ahead twice against Cheshunt- but the Ambers take a point
Second place Brentwood Town had the chance to eat into the gap between themselves and leaders Folkestone Invicta, but despite twice taking the lead against Cheshunt they had to settle for a point.
The Blues were back at the Arena following their one-nil defeat against Invicta at the weekend, and were rather keen to cut the Stripes advantage down to six points- but the travelling Ambers had other ideas. Brentwood went ahead twelve minutes before half time, Jesse Olukolu scoring his third of the season after good work from Kymani Thomas, but the visitors didn’t take that lightly, and were quickly level, Matthias Fanimo scoring for the third time in four matches.
Just before the hour the hosts were ahead once more, Thomas this time scorer rather than provider, the role of provider taken by Max Hudson- but again the visitors were quickly level. This one came from the spot, Sam Granville putting it away - his third goal, all from the spot, in his last three matches.
Town have been very good at scoring late goals this season- indeed they’ve scored thirteen times on or after the eighty fifth minute- and they had the chances to do the same again, but on this occasion didn’t take them.
Brentwood remain second, eight points behind the leaders having played two games more. They are three points clear of third place Chatham Town, but the Chats also have two games in hand. Cheshunt are sixteenth, three points clear of the bottom four after a run of only one win- and five draws- from their last ten matches.
