Borough hammer the Robins- whilst Redbridge resist a late Concord flurry to win a five goal thriller
Eastbourne Borough and the Motormen are Monday winners- whilst Southall walloped Cobham on Sunday
Eastbourne Borough had won seven competitive matches in a row as they travelled to take on third place Carshalton Athletic in Pitching In Isthmian Premier last night- and the Sussex seasiders made it eight on the bounce as they plucked the poor Robins at Colston Avenue.
Borough were quickly out of the traps, and went ahead on thirteen minutes, Terrell Egbri on the end of a cross from Darren McQueen. More pressure from the away side saw the lead extended eleven minutes before half time, and on this occasion it was Josh Rees who found the net, Freddie Carter the provider, and that was that for the first half- although in truth the visitors could have been further ahead.
They were further ahead just after the hour, an own goal making it three, and with twenty minutes to go it was four- this time Egbri the provider, his corner poked home by Rees. The Robins offered little in response, and Borough climbed into the top seven. They began the season as our title favourites- and they are certainly beginning to show why.
Into Pitching In Isthmian North, and Redbridge moved up to third with victory over Concord Rangers.
The Motormen delighted the home faithful by taking the lead on fifteen minutes, Louie Remi firing a low shot beyond the keeper, and they were even more delighted only four minutes later when Remi scored a solo beauty to make it two. The Beachboys immediately hit back, Toheeb Elegushi making it two-one, and missed a chance to equalise before the break, but it was three-one early in the second half, Usisya Longwe heading home a Pedro Carvalho free kick.
Deep in added time Demi Elegushi was dismissed for the Beachboys, but the ten men did reduce the errors, Khris Oti bringing it back to three-two just before the end.
Rangers ended the night in fifth.
Sunday saw Southall up to eighth in Pitching In Isthmian South Central, The All remaining unbeaten and more, walloping Cobham at Honeycroft.
Southall went ahead just after the half hour, Liam Ferdinand with his fifth League goal of the campaign, and in the closing stages of the first half one became three, first Ryan Hope and then Bill Montague making the half time lead rather comfortable. Cobham made the trip having lost three in a row and it wasn’t looking good in their quest to stop that run, but they did get a goal back early in the second half, Nicolas Osborne hitting back- however the last word went to the hosts, Tyler Hayles making it four-one five minutes from time.
Only goal difference keeps The All outside the Play Off places, but they have a game in hand over three of the sides ahead of them, two games in hand over the sides in second and fifth, AFC Portchester and Raynes Park Vale, and three games in hand over third place Winchester City and the leaders, Bognor Regis Town. They travel to Bedfont Sports this evening looking to reduce those margins.
Cobham slip to sixteenth.
