Cheshunt boss Mel Gwinnett steps down on health grounds
Cheshunt have announced the departure of manager Mel Gwinnett, who leaves the club to focus on his health.
You can read the club statement here, but we'd like to send our best wishes to Mel and his family, and along with those regards convey our hopes for a speedy recovery and a prompt return to football.
Mel, a goalkeeper in his early career, first worked as a goalkeeping coach at Exeter City and MK Dons before moving on to be Assistant Manager at Stevenage and Barnet. More recently he spent a year and a half as manager at National League South side Hampton and Richmond Borough. He left the Beavers in the summer of 2024 and then spent some time at Oxford City before becoming Ambers boss in October 2024.
As a player, he played for Stourbridge before being spotted by Peterborough United. After time at the Posh he moved on briefly to Hereford United, Gloucester City and Bradford City. He then spent three years with Exeter City, before spells with Yeovil Town and Weymouth.
