Gondoh celebrates a scoring Rooks return
Ryan Gondoh returns to Lewes- and returns to the scoresheet
Lewes celebrated the return of Ryan Gondoh before kicking off their weekend action- and the player almost immediately got to celebrate a goal, scoring the second as they won in Aveley on Saturday.
Ryan returned to the Rooks from AFC Whyteleafe, where he has played three times this season, rather ironically against the Rooks- although the fans won't mind too much, their side emerged victorious. He played forty five times with eighteen goals during 25-26, a mainstay of the Leafe side which won promotion via our South East Play Offs, and thirty eight times with twenty goals as they won promotion- and reached the FA Vase Final- during 24-25.
He actually moved to Leafe from the Rooks. He joined Lewes in December 2022 from Sevenoaks Town and quickly became a fan favourite, playing twenty two times and scoring eight goals during the second half of that 22-23 campaign, and twenty seven times with six goals during 23-24.
Winger Ryan started his career as a youth player with Whyteleafe before playing briefly for Carshalton Athletic and then signing for Barnet. Whilst at Barnet he had Isthmian League loans with Hendon and Staines Town, before then signing permanently for Met Police. In 2016-17 he made six starts for the boys in Blue, and also featured for Kingstonian- mainly from the bench- and Carshalton once more, where he scored three goals in twelve appearances. But it was in 2017-18 where he really came to prominence, playing so well for Maldon & Tiptree that he earned himself a move to Colchester United. He made six appearances for Colchester, before moving to National League FC Halifax Town. He then spent time with Concord Rangers and returned to Whyteleafe, before moving up, playing for Hampton & Richmond Borough, Wealdstone and Ayr United. He scored nine goals in twenty appearances for Oaks during the 22-23 season before first joining the Rooks.
