Isthmian League round-up | Fantastic comeback lifts Robins to fourth
Just two games were played over the weekend in the Isthmian Premier, but there was no shortage of goals in either fixture.
A dramatic turnaround at the Maldon Stadium saw Carshalton Athletic defeat Maldon & Tiptree 3-2, despite going two goals behind.
Eze Ebuzoeme opened the scoring inside two minutes, before an own-goal doubled the advantage a few minutes later to give the hosts a dream start.
Nonetheless, after Robert Howard halved the deficit five minutes after the break, debutant Will Bratvedt was on hand with two goals in the final quarter to secure a sixth league win of the campaign for Steven Bates’ side.
It also brings to an end Carshalton's five-game winless run in all competitions, following a run of five league victories to start the season.
A fourth loss for the Jammers, who sit 16th on nine points, led to the club parting ways with manager Mark Hawkes a matter of hours after the full-time whistle.
With a busy weekend of FA Cup action elsewhere, the only other game in the division saw high-flying Lewes lose 3-1 to Cheshunt.
The Ambers bagged their first league win of the campaign following five draws and three losses, as Raul Da Silva, Tommy Wood and Sam Granville netted in front of a home crowd.
Substitute Mackenzie Richardson scored a consolation for the Rooks in stoppage time, but Saturday’s defeat means they drop below Carshalton in the table and into fifth.
Cheshunt, meanwhile, climb above AFC Whyteleafe and into 17th position.
