Musonda, Brown and Edwards are Saints

Frankie Musonda, Kai Brown and Charlie Edwards are new at St Albans City

St Albans City's squad building continued in the closing stages of last week, with Frankie Musonda, Kai Brown and Charlie Edwards arriving at the club.

Kai had a magnificent campaign for Waltham Abbey last season, his forty five appearances bringing thirty goals.

Kai came to prominence at Grays Athletic, making twenty seven appearances during the 2017-18 campaign despite being only sixteen years old. His form earned him a move to Ipswich Town, and he made a first team debut for the Tractor Boys, was a big part of their Under 23 squad, and also performed well in loan moves with Dagenham and Redbridge and Hemel Hempstead Town- as well as with East Thurrock United, for whom he played five times during 2019-20. He started the 21-22 season at Welling United, and then spent time with Grays Athletic, Hastings United, Whitehawk, Burgess Hill Town, and then started the 23-24 season in scintillating form at Basildon United, managing thirteen goals in thirteen matches.

His Bees form earned him a move to Aveley, and as a Miller he had a loan spell at Canvey island before a move to Aveley. He was with Maldon and Tiptree during 24-25, scoring eight goals from twenty four matches, before becoming an Abbott last summer.

Charlie Edwards was a massive part of Brentwood Town's success last season, making forty two appearances as the Blues reached our Premier Play Off Final.

He signed for Cray Wanderers in the summer of 2024, making thirty one appearances and scoring three goals. He then made a move to the other Cray, Valley, playing twice more.

The midfielder ended the 23-24 season at Potters Bar Town, joining just before the transfer window slammed shut and managing nine appearances before the season did the same.

He was previously with Canvey Island, who he joined in November 2022, and he made thirty three appearances- with three goals- during 23-24 season, following thirty one- and five goals- during 22-23. He also spent some of the 22-23 campaign with Corinthian-Casuals, playing ten times, after joining them in the closing stages of the previous campaign.

His spell at Potters Bar was his second period with the club, and he was previously with Wingate and Finchley, Harlow Town and Hertford Town, as well as Waltham Abbey, where he played for part of the 2018-19 and all of the 2019-20 campaigns. As a side note, the 2018 FA Cup Final ball had his name on it, in celebration of a goal he scored in a replay against Grays Athletic for Hertford Town!

Frankie Musonda came through the youth ranks at Luton Town before graduating to the first team. Whilst at Luton he had a couple of loan spells with the Saints, and others at Hemel Hempstead Town, Oxford City and Braintree Town, but the defender has spent much of his career in Scotland, playing for Raith Rovers and Ayr United. He then went somewhere rather warmer last summer, moving to Bahrain.

He plays international football for Zambia.
