Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 25-26: St Albans City

The Saints are back with us for the first time in many years, and hoping their stay will be a short one. Aaron Livingstone gives us a tour
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
Aaron takes on the role of chief Saint!
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
A campaign that ended in relegation didn’t particularly have many highlights- however a notable 1-0 Derby Day win over Hemel Hempstead Town at home, in front of a crowd of four thousand, was quite the win to keep our survival hopes alive.
2. And what was the worst moment?
Has to be losing to Step 4 side Gorleston away- 4-2 in the FA Cup 3rd Round Qualifying. I wouldn’t want to recall that game again anytime soon.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
Zane Banton carried the team on his back last season even when times were tough. My player of the season for sure and someone who has been at the club for 8 seasons now!
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
Early doors and a very new squad, but love the look of Perez Duah and Sam Smith.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
It’s been a while since we’re last in the Isthmian League, it’s a tough league that we know won’t be easy. I’d settle with a 4th/5th place in our first season, in amongst the playoff chasing pack.
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
Whitehawk and Lewes away, I always enjoy going via Brighton.
Cheshunt away- it isn’t particular a derby but has been a tasty affair in previous meetings.
Your Billericay’s and Dartford’s may end up crucial, so also them for sure.
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
Haven’t been to many but Carshalton Athletic is a nice old classic.
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
Dulwich Hamlet for sure, but obviously St Albans City serve the best food.
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
Billericay Town, Dartford, Chatham Town, St Albans City, Folkestone Invicta.
