Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 26-27: Chatham Town

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.  

Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

My highlight of last season has to be the cup runs we had. They produced some of my best matches supporting the club. The FA Cup away games (Ashford, Tonbridge and Buxton) were all great games and in the FA Trophy  we took on one of the favourites for the whole tournament in Carlisle, and forced the eventual winners, who were Southend, into a really tight game which was decided by the rebound of a penalty.

And what was the worst moment?

I think that the worst ‘moment’ was when we lost four in a row from the 24th Jan to Valentines Day. Out of the four games, I think that the only one we played well in was against Southend. Against Billericay, we missed two pens- which was shocking. Brentwood we were completely outplayed and against Chichester, we fell apart from the 70th minute and bottled a 2-0 lead.

Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

I can't pick one, so I'm going to have two. Both Sam Sene-Richardson and Nathan Harvey were both respectively instrumental to our success last season, however Sam has to be just better as he was playing from the start of the season, whereas Nathan had only really started after October/November. 

Sam was the key throughout the season as the main attacking outlet . At the other end of the pitch, Nath saved us in so many big games- with crucial saves like the free kick against Folkestone (away) where he just tipped it over.

Moving on to your current squad - which players do you think will make a big impact during the 26/27 campaign?

I have a feeling that Jake Turner and Brad Stevenson will both have a massive impact during the 26/27 season. Brad comes from a quite impressive season in the National League will Solihull, so I am certain he can use the skills he learned at a higher level to improve his game and ideally get 20/30+ g/a. As for Turner, he had really impressed me in pre season and made it clear he could be a top player at this level.

Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I think that playoffs are a must, as we have heavily invested in the facilities- and in players who I believe are all too good for this level. I don't think we will win it (playoffs), however,  as there are too many quality sides in the league this year and if we were to go up, it should have been last season.

If you could choose a song for your side to run our to, what would it be- and why?

I think that we should walk out to " I Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley. First, it is quite a memorable song which will be good for people to sing along to and create an atmosphere. Secondly, it is a very passionate song which signifies deep devotion,  like that which football fans have for their club.

From all the opposition players you watched last season, which one would you love to see in your side- and why?

Joe Pigott because of his great goal scoring ability

What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

The Dripping Pan(Lewes)- as it is a very traditional non league ground and we tend to get good results there.

If you travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Whitehawk had the best food. I remember that the chips were top notch and the burgers were quality
