Rockin' Robins hit the summit

Carshalton Athletic stole a march on their rivals at the top of Pitching In Isthmian Premier by kicking off Matchday Two twenty four hours early, the Robins making the most of their traditional Monday Night fixture by defeating Wingate and Finchley two-nil.

It took the hosts only four minutes to go ahead, a corner from Jack Jebb headed home by Ethan Kaiser. The travelling Blues, who took a point against Cray Wanderers on Saturday, did their best to fight back, but most of the chances were at the other end- although it took until thirteen minutes from time until one of them was taken. Fabio Saraiva, who provided some magnificent moments as the Robins hauled themselves to safety last season, was once more impressive, the skipper curling home a free kick to make quite sure of the points.

Five hundred and fifty watched on, and the majority of them left delighted, the Robins three points clear at the top- although seven sides will try to remove them from that perch this evening.
