Zuriel gets Wings!

The latest arrival at Welling United is Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo, who you may remember from his time at Herne Bay last season.

Wings boss Ryan Maxwell told the club's social media:

“Zuriel is quick, tenacious and adds a different dynamic tactically for us. He has shown a great attitude and performed well in preseason versus Step 2 opponents, and I am looking forward to working with him!”

Zuriel is a right back who came through the ranks at Southampton. He played for the Academy, the Under 18 side, the B team and the Under 21's before leaving St Mary's in the summer of 2023, and first coming our way with Potters Bar Town. He doesn't, however, seem to have played for the Scholars. He moved on to Welwyn Garden City, and during the 24-25 season picked up the clubs Young Player of the Year and Committee Player of the Year awards. He made forty one appearances, too. 

He signed for Whitehawk in the summer of 2025, and played in opening day defeat against Ramsgate, before moving on to Herne Bay where he quickly established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet, playing thirty six times.
