Darts bring in Margate boss Ben

Ben was appointed Margate boss two years ago this month. He steered them to sixth place this season, and fourth place in 24-25. He continued to play, and its just as well he did, as he managed twenty two goals from forty one appearances last season and seventeen from fifty four during 24-25. He was previously Player/Assistant Manager at Hartsdown Park, so has been playing and banging in hatfuls of goals since 21-22.
He joined Gate from Tonbridge Angels, and was previously with the Darts, Concord Rangers, Maidstone United, Hemel Hempstead Town, Inter Milan and Como.
A statement from Margate explained:
Margate Football Club is disappointed to confirm that Manager Ben Greenhalgh has received an offer to become manager of an Isthmian Premier Division side.
Greenhalgh who has managed over 100 games for the club and played over 250 appearances for the Blues as a player leaves as one of our most decorated players in recent times.
As Manager, Greenhalgh led us to a play-off semi-final in his first campaign as manager, before narrowly missing out by one point this season.
Whilst hugely disappointed to be losing Ben, Chairman Ricky Owen praised his impact on Margate FC.
“We are disappointed that this has come about out of the blue. We stuck by Ben and was ready to do so again for the 2026/27 season ahead. To receive this news at this time is particularly frustrating but the search for Ben’s replacement starts in earnest”.
“I’ve had a fantastic relationship with Ben, he is a good person who I have enjoyed working with. There is no question about how influential he has been at the club. He led us to a play-off campaign in his first season and narrowly missed out this year”.
