Basildon lose top spot...and then their manager

Harrison steps down

Basildon United have had a magnificent start to their first season in the Bostik League, winning their first seven matches- and despite a blip recently which culminated in yesterday's 4-0 defeat to Bowers & Pitsea still sit in second place. But whatever happens during the rest of the season it will happen under new leadership, as manager Marc Harrison has resigned.

A club statement, just released on social media, explains:

'Marc Harrison has resigned as first team manager with immediate effect. The club records it’s sincere thanks to Marc and his team for their hard work in a momentous period of the club’s history and wishes them well for the future, David Maxwell will be stepping into the role of Joint Chairman with Lee Connor, who will oversee team affairs until a new manager is appointed.'
