Blues making midweek switch to Wednesdays

Leiston manager Richard Wilkins and the rest of the Ryman Premier club's coaches are planning to play all their midweek home fixtures on Wednesday nights next season.

From August, all the club's sides playing in midweek will switch from Tuesday nights in an effort to ease the pressure on the playing surface at Victory Road, pictured.

In a statement released on Tuesday announcing the change, a Blues spokesman said: "From next season all midweek fixtures at Victory Road will be played on a Wednesday evening. The club has taken the decision to try and reduce excess usage of the pitch and to maintain a high profile playing surface.

"Kick off times will remain the same for all the three sides playing midweek fixtures in their relative leagues."

Wilkins guided the Blues to a ninth placed finish in April, four places and eight points off the Ryman Premier's play-offs.
