Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Phoenix Sports

The latest in our collection of supporters previews features Jay Brown for Phoenix Sports.

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Jay Brown, representing Phoenix Sports.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Beating our neighbours and local rivals VCD 2-0 away from home

2. And what was the worst moment?

Losing away at Haringey Borough 4-0.

3. How will you do this season?

Personally I think we will finish around mid-table. We know the South will be a tough challenge with some very good sides in there. We have lost some influential first teamers but have replaced them with some decent players so I’m confident of a good debut season in the division.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to- and why?

Guernsey is the stand-out one for me. I’ve never had to fly to an away game so that and a weekend away I look forward to.

I’m also looking forward to a few extra local ones, Cray Wanderers, Thamesmead, Greenwich Borough and VCD.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I like Harlow, good set up and stadium. Always a good crowd and plenty of banter flying around.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

VCD. They are literally over the road from us.

7. What advice would you give to an away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Get to the ground nice and early. Decent hot food available and plenty of choice as well as plenty to offer in our fully licensed bar. Giant screen for any sports on before or after the game.

8. Who is your favourite player (for your club) of all time- and why?

For me in the time I have been going to Phoenix it has to be Steve “Frenchie” Phillips. A top lad and a very, very good goalkeeper. I am yet to see us come up against a better keeper in a league game, and he has earned us many points in the past and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Greenwich Borough, Hythe Town, Cray Wanderers, Carshalton Athletic, Faversham.
