Bottom clubs name new bosses

By Peter Butcher

THE clubs at the foot of the Ryman League, Ware and Walton Casuals, have both named new managers.

The new manager of Ware, bottom of Ryman North and without a win all season, is former semi-pro international Nicky Ironton, who enjoyed great success as a player with Enfield and Barnet, among others, and was recognised as one of the best players of his era.

Ware chairman Mike Varney said: "Nick has a wealth of experience both as a former player and manager having enjoyed success as a manager with Arlesey Town in the league, the FA Cup and the FA Vase.

"He has at various other times been coach, technical coach or director of football to clubs such as Boreham Wood, Hemel Hempstead Town and Aylesbury.

"The club would like to thank the caretaker team of Stewart Margolis and Peter Risley for their hard work in difficult times allowing a smooth transition for the incoming manager."

Walton Casuals, who are propping up Ryman South, have announced the appointment of Danny Carroll (pictured), who joined them as a coach in October and is working his way towards his UEFA `A` badge.

As a player he had spells at Stevenage Borough, Crawley Town, Bromley and Farnborough Town, where his hat-trick against Darlington set up a memorable FA Cup Fourth Round clash with Arsenal back in 2002/03.

He was also capped by England once at semi-professional level.
