Champion's keeper moves on

Grays Athletic manager Ryan Kirby has thanked keeper George Kamurasi for his part in winning last season's Ryman North title after he left in search of first team football.

The popular stopper signed in 2011 for the club's reserves and quickly became number two to first choice Lamar Johnson. An injury to Johnson last season saw Kamurasi make 27 appearances as the Gravelmen set new records on the way to the title and promotion to the Ryman Premier, pictured.

As a result of a five game ban and a bizarre injury Johnson picked up during a pre-match warm-up last month, Kamurasi kept his place between the sticks but opted to move on to Ryman North Brentwood Town with Johnson finally returning.

Kirby hailed Kamurasi's professionalism and key role in clinching the championship. He said: "I would like to thank George for his commitment and dedication to the club and team during his time at Grays. He was always determined to play well and improve himself during training. We are grateful for the contribution he made during this and our title winning season."

Kamurasi thanked the club's coaching staff, officials and fans for their support during his time with them. "I've always tried my hardest and I would like to thank the coaching staff and all the board for their support and especially the supporters," said the keeper.
