City bring in two

A new Cambridge duo, as City prepare for their first Isthmian season

Cambridge City have announced the signings of winger Matt Sparrow and midfielder Andy Palmer.

Sparrow comes in from Yaxley, who finished two points and one place above City in last season's Southern Division One Central. The wide man found the back of the opposition net on a dozen occasions. Palmer joins from Linton Granta in the Kershaw Premier Division (that's Kershaw Mechanical services, not the 1980's pop star famous for wearing a snood). Linton finished in second place in this league last season, which sits at step seven. Cambridge City's Reserves also competed in the same division, although they ended the campaign second from bottom.
