Deadline set to succeed Sandman

Leatherhead have set a deadline of next Monday for potential candidates to succeed Mike Sandman at the Ryman Premier's Tanners to step forward.

After parting company with Sandman on Tuesday, officials at Fetcham Grove set a deadline of Monday 19 September to make an early appointment with the Tanners out of the Emirates FA Cup and second from bottom in the Ryman League's top flight after collecting five points from their first seven outings.

Former Dover Athletic academy coach Sandman, pictured, took the helm in January after Richard Brady stepped aside to become director of football at the Surrey club, having previously served under him as a coach and assistant manager.

As the club started the hunt for Sandman's successor, Brady took charge of first team affairs on Wednesday night when the Tanners hosted Ryman South Walton Casuals in the first round of the Alan Turvey Trophy sponsored by Robert Dyas.
