Harlow Town manager Danny Chapman bolstered his backline ahead of Saturday's 3-0 Ryman North home win over Tilbury with the addition of two experienced defenders.

The Hawks, up into second behind VCD Athletic, signed centre-half Darren Blewitt from Brentwood Town and left-back Glen Parry from Cheshunt.

Blewitt also names Aveley among his former clubs while Parry has also played for Ware. Parry also enjoyed a recent spell as manager of Colney Heath in the Spartan South Midlands League.

A Harlow Town spokesman welcomed the pair to a club still celebrating kicking off on their new artificial surface on Tuesday night competitively for the first time with a thumping 8-3 win over Barkingside. "We would like to wish both players a successful time at the club," said the spokesman.

The Dockers also announced the signing of a defender on Saturday with the arrival of David East from Premier Division newcomers Grays Athletic. Primarily a centre-half, 25-year-old East can also play as a full-back and has previously been with Southend Manor and Romford.
